Q. How long should I consume matcha after opening? 抹茶は開封後どのくらいで飲み切ればいい?
A. Use within 4 weeks. Store in a cool, dark, dry place. できれば 4 週間以内。涼しく、暗い、乾燥した場所で保管してください。
Q. Does matcha contain more caffeine than coffee? カフェイン量はコーヒーと比べて多い?
A. 2 g of matcha delivers about 60 mg of caffeine—less than the 80 mg in a cup of drip coffee. The caffeine is released more gently, easing strain on the body, and matcha's high theanine content helps keep jitters in check. Except the WACHA Green series, all WACHA blends are caffeine-free.
Hand-painted by a Certified Kiyomizu Ware Artisan, Kyoto
A refined chasen rest designed to keep your matcha whisk in perfect shape — and your tea ritual beautifully complete. Each piece is hand-painted with delicate clematis flowers (tessen) by a certified Kiyomizu ware artisan on fine white Tokoname porcelain.
Simply rinse your whisk after use, then place it upside down on the rest.
The natural curve supports the bamboo tines as they dry evenly, helping to preserve their graceful form and create fine, smooth foam the next time you whisk.
This handcrafted piece harmonizes beautifully with any matcha bowl and makes a thoughtful gift for tea lovers around the world. Each one is individually hand-painted, offering its own subtle expression of beauty.
What is a “Chasen Rest”?
After preparing matcha, leaving the whisk standing upright causes its fine bamboo tips to spread and lose shape.
A chasen rest—also called a “kusenaoshi”—is a special holder that gently supports the whisk as it dries, maintaining its natural curve and preventing damage.
In Japanese tea culture, even the act of letting a tool rest is part of the ritual.
This small piece embodies that sense of quiet mindfulness.
WACHA’s Kyo-e-tsuke (Kyoto-style hand-painted) chasen rests are crafted in collaboration with Kiyomizu ware artisans. They are not mere utensils, but small art pieces that turn the simple act of drying a whisk into a moment of reflection.
Each rest serves as both a “stage” where your chasen rests gracefully, and an art object that invites calm into your everyday life.
